16-Feb-2007 -- Having visited dozens of confluence points around the world, I finally got to visit one in my native New Zealand. I was back in New Zealand for a few days to visit relatives in the Northland region, so of course I had to take time to visit the nearby confluence [-36,174].
This confluence lies within a dairy farm east of Dargaville. To reach it, I took Mititai Road from State Highway 12, and then Neck Road to its end, where I parked. This is only about 600m from the confluence point. I was then able to hike along a grassy, overgrown farm road, and then another dirt farm road, until I reached a small fenced-off field containing the confluence point - and some young calves.
This is quite typical-looking New Zealand farm land: hills, lush green grass, and a stand of native bush nearby. :
