#1: General View of Confluence - 23°N 70°E

(visited by Sriram Kris Sharma)

17-Sep-2006 -- As planned I left the previous day of confluence visit from Rajkot where I was living by a State Transport bus and reached Gandhidham at around 10.30 pm, which was situated about 200 km away. My friend Nandhagopal who was living there came to the bus stand to receive me. We went to his home and my another friend Somesh Kotak also joined us and we had a nice time.

The next day i.e on 17 September 2006, by 5:00 pm Myself, Nandhagopal and Somesh Kotak started off with Nandha's LML Energy motorbike and Somesh's Bajaj Chetak scooter. This is the first confluence visit for both of my friends. On the way we stopped for a while for having tea.

After getting refreshed we took the main road which was going towards Bhuj city. After traveling some 17 km the GPS was pointing exactly perpendicular against the road ahead. Here we found a small pathway and took a right turn and we could go up to 400 m. Here we had to stop the vehicles as the path had come to an end.

After parking them we took our gear and started walking towards the confluence which was lying some 1.5 km away. We had to carefully cross certain Jowar (Sorghum) fields without stepping onto the crops. After this we had to climb down the embankment and crossed a partially dry stream. Then climbed up a dike and again had to cross two jowar fields. Then at last at around 6.40 pm, reached the confluence spot which was lying in a place full of moderately dried grass and thorny bushes.

After taking the mandatory photos, we had to rush back as it was getting darker. After reaching the place where we parked our vehicles with some difficulty and confusion, we proceeded towards the main road.

We stopped a while at a road side shop at the junction and relaxed there and chatted with the farmers who were present for quiet some time and somehow explained about our trip to their fields. Then started towards home and reached after one and half hour. This is my 9th confluence visit and my 8th successful one.
