22-Oct-2007 -- A visit to add the zeroes. The only previous trip having taken place just after the turn of the century – in fact just one day after the turn of the century, today seemed an auspicious time to once again check if the L&F Hunt Club had the welcome mat spread. With the area remarkably unchanged in the last seven years, I could almost resubmit the original report for 35N 93W

Two hours earlier, while leaving 35N 91W, the sky was starting to clear, but as I passed through Little Rock on Highway 10, rain was making a return. At Alpin, I turned north on County Road 41 (although I’m not sure I saw a sign to indicate it), and began a 5km, mostly uphill climb to the cp. Locked gates and “no trespassing” signs dotted the landscape on either side of the road. When I reached the nearby high voltage power line a second time (CR-41 having previously passed under it), a light mist covered the whole area around the cp.

After parking at a pull-off where the power line re-crosses CR-41, I walked back ENE until I stood on the road above and due north of the cp, and within 100 meters of my goal. Bits of charred wood covered the ground to the south between the road and the power line cut, indicating a fire had taken place within recent memory. However, the re-vegetation process is already well established.

With the rainy weather prohibiting great picture taking, I decided to impose on the hospitality of the local hunt club members, slipping onto their leased land long enough to record a zero reading. If we only come by once every seven years, how much can they mind?
