03-Nov-2007 -- Na volta da viagem a Minas Gerais, fomos visitar o nosso amigo Álvaro F. Malta, em sua fazenda próxima ao povoado de Major Ezequiel, município de Alvinópolis. Após obter informação da localização com moradores do bairro, dirigimos à fazenda por uma estrada próxima ao povoado. Após poucos quilômetros, estávamos na fazenda conversando com seu filho Rodrigo e o funcionário Valtinho, já que o Álvaro não se encontrava.

Para nossa surpresa, a sede da fazenda fica a 1 km da confluência 20S-43W, do outro lado do morro que se erguia por trás da sede. Resolvemos, então, visitar esta confluência. O Valtinho nos recomendou a não descer de jipe para o outro lado do morro porque o caminho estava bastante ruim.

Subimos o morro, por uma trilha, em direção ao ponto, mas logo percebemos que a trilha contornava o morro e a distância aumentava. Seria necessário procurar outra estrada ou trilha, mas percebemos que dava para continuar descendo do outro lado, com segurança, de jipe. Continuando pela trilha, a distância ao ponto foi diminuindo até chegar a 480 m, mas havia um córrego e um brejo com 50 m de largura, cheio de taboa e capim alto, impossível de atravessar. Chegamos à sede da Fazenda das Cobras, município de São Domingos do Prata, onde fomos recebidos pelo sr. Giovani César Gandra de Oliveira, parente do proprietário, que nos mostrou um caminho do outro lado do morro. Como a distância era de 800 metros, resolvemos caminhar, pois para ir de jipe seria preciso dar uma grande volta para evitar uma represa; a pé, poderíamos atravessá-la pela barragem do açude.

Às 14h35, acompanhados pelo Giovani, caminhamos rapidamente pela estrada que segue em direção à confluência. No final, a estrada se transforma em uma simples trilha que nos levou a menos de 20 metros do ponto. Rapidamente vencemos os últimos metros até o ponto exato, tiramos as fotos de praxe e retornamos para o jipe que deixamos na sede da fazenda. Era 15h25.

Agradecemos a atenção dispensada pelo sr Giovani e prosseguimos a viagem para Belo Horizonte, onde pretendíamos nos encontrar com o nosso amigo Álvaro.

03-Nov-2007 -- Returning from the our journey to Minas Gerais, we went to visit our friend Álvaro F. Malta, on his farm near the town of Major Ezequiel, municipality of Alvinópolis.

After obtaining information of the location with inhabitants of the neighborhood, we drove to the farm by a dirt road nearby the village. After a few kilometres, we were on the farm chatting with his son Rodrigo and the farm manager Valtinho, since Álvaro was not there.

To our surprise, the farm house was located just 1 km from the confluence 20S-43W, on the other side of the hill behind the house. So, we decided to visit this confluence. Valtinho recommended us to not to go down by car to the other side of the hill because the trail was very bad.

We drove up the hill, by a path, in direction to the CP, but soon we realized that the path contoured the hill and the distance increased. We would have looked for another way, but we realized that we could continue going down, safely.

Continuing on the path, the distance to the point decreased until 480 m, but there was a stream and a swamp 50 m wide, impossible to cross through. We arrived at Fazenda das Cobras house, town of São Domingos do Prata, where we were received by the Mr. Giovani César Gandra de Oliveira, one of the holder's relatives, that showed us a road on the other side of the hill. As the distance was of 800 meters, we walked, because in order to go by car, it would be necessary to make a big turn to avoid a dam; walking, we could cross the barrier of the dam.

It was 2:35 p.m., when accompanied by Giovani, we walked quickly by the trail towards the confluence. At the end, the trail turned into a simple path that led us to less than 20 meters of CP. We covered the last meters to the exact point quickly, took the photos and returned to the car that we had left by the house of the farm. It was 3:25 p.m.. We appreciated the attention given by Mr. Oliveira and continued the trip to our home.
