12-Mar-2001 -- I was working in the town of Moranbah, conveniently located just 4 km from a confluence point. Moranbah is one of the towns built to service the Bowen Basin coal mines that exported 200 million tons of coal last year. Finishing work, I found my way past the pistol club, along some trail bike tracks, across the railway line, down a power line access track to somewhere close to the confluence and startled a couple of kangaroos in the shade of a tree nearby. I walked around to locate the exact spot. It turned out to be under the front wheel of the car. My first drive-in confluence with lots of gum trees and a few Brahman cattle grazing.

The return trip took a little longer when I had to wait for a coal train to go past and go past ..... and go past. It was pulled by four giant locomotives and carried a load of 7000 tonnes of coal.
