22-Dec-2006 -- We set out from the Liwa Hotel early at 6:30 and took the road towards the Ḥamīm junction. To avoid unnecessary intoxication, we opted to deflate our tyres away from the local waste tip. The route was straight forward towards the Confluence site thanks to our Chief Navigator's (Trevor) high-tech GPS navigation system.
The Confluence was located in a flat sabkha basin surrounded by large sand dunes. When we first entered the basin in the early morning, we came across a group (4) of Oryx (white in colour) in the basin. The sound of our engines soon scared the animals over the next set of dunes.
We concluded our route by exiting the dunes via the ADCO Shah Oil sand road.
