08-Jan-2008 -- Another business trip, another confluence visit in yet another country!
While in Sweden last Friday (see my report from 60°N 12°E I got a phone call stating that I was needed in Barcelona, Spain, as soon as possible.
I flew from Oslo on Monday morning, drove to the office location outside the city and got a lot of work done. During the weekend I had checked out which confluence I could manage to visit if I made a very early start on Tuesday morning.
This was the one that was closest to both my hotel and the office, so I checked out while it was still pitch dark, then drove over a couple of mountain passes, on extremely twisty roads, getting to the confluence area as it was getting light enough to see.
Finding the confluence itself was very easy, I just turned off the main road at the point where my GPS told me to, then drove about 700 m uphill on a narrow dirt road, until I got to a point where the confluence was about 140 m away. A tractor track left the road here, going in the right direction, and just two minutes later I got to the exact point.
GPS conditions turned out to be perfect this morning, with 11 regular satellites plus the EGNOS correction data all showing very close to maximum strength bars, indicating that the stated accuracy of 2 m was almost certainly correct.
