10-Dec-2000 -- 26S 152E looked like it was going to be one of those
difficult access confluences when we couldn't get closer than 1.5 kilometres on
the Burnett Highway 7 kilometres north of Tansey. Our target lay to the west and
the walk would have been uphill in thick scratchy scrub. It was a hot and sweaty
afternoon and the navigators rejected that option.
A few kilometers north and no convenient turns to the left so we doubled back
and found a turn a few kilometers back that wasn’t going to take us any closer,
but maybe we could find a side track that would. My daughters, Kate and Lissa
were all smiles when we found such a track with a signpost that read North
Oakfield. Following that we found a farm track that led us to a farmer moving his
cattle and explained our quest. Neil Graham graciously let us drive across his
property to the edge of the forest just 230 metres from the confluence. An easy
walk around the base of the hill through open forest and the zeros fell into place.
