31-Jul-2008 -- I enjoyed a successful visit to this confluence at about 1515 hours on a beautiful sunny day. I had been on a vacation trip with two other family members to Glacier National Park in northern Montana. We were south-bound on I-15 from Helena when this confluence presented itself.
We exited the freeway at Wolfcreek which is at 47 00 19.63 -112 04 05.58. We turned left, drove under the freeway and across the railroad tracks and turned left again. We were now traveling northeast along the Frontage Road. We passed 47 00 14.29 -112 04 04.89 and 47 00 16.42 -112 02 43.85 on our way towards the Missouri River.
We crossed the river on a trestle bridge at 47 01 07.04 -112 00 46.5 and made an immediate right-hand turn at 47 01 10.82 -112 00 36.33. We were now traveling south and heading upstream along the river, which is flowing north at this point.
We soon came to a short but steep turn-off for fisherman parking and access. There were two fishermen there who had just suited up in chest waders and were walking along the river bank to meet some friends. I got my GPS and camera ready and left the two family members waiting in the car. I soon found a fence with a locked gate, but the fence was outfitted with a "V" structure that allowed two-legged creatures to pass but not the four-legged kind like wildlife and cattle.
I used the V and walked along the shore following the fisherman for about 75 meters until the GPS led me to the east and away from the river. I soon found the confluence amidst grass and weeds. The river was not visible there, but the parked cars and my family members were, as well as a large home (not shown in any photo) on a hill on the opposite shore.
Its always magical to see those ten zeroes! Thanks for getting me out!
