01-Jul-2008 -- After the successful first visit of 23N-83W at the previous day we were in the right mood to visit another confluence:
Still touring in Cuba, we were hitting East. It is raining, a kind of misery, even a bit chilly.
We are traversing a large plain under agricultural land use, good potential, lots of rain and (usually) quite warm, good soils, but not under modern agricultural practises. Almost a kind of subsistence farming, or small-scale production for private sale. There are some small villages with houses, but then also large agricultural enterprises with old tractors.
The 'farm houses' in these villages often have small gardens and 'fields' next to them. Right next to such a place, and next to the road is point 23N-82W, exactly! 5 km south of Jaruco.
This was the easiest confluence point I ever visited. Pictures in all directions. GPSs were again our two Fujitsu-Siemens Pocket-Loox, with a displayed accuracy of 1-3 m.
Coordinator Note: Contrary to the visitor's opinion, visit to 23N 83W was registered as 'incomplete' because the minimum distance of 100 m from the Confluence wasn't reached.
