30-Jan-2009 -- This is the 54th of a series of 83 confluence visits during our voyage from Nigeria to Europe and back to Nigeria around the entire African continent. It all started on 28 January 2008 at 11N 5E.
Story continues from 0 36E.
It is 6:00 a.m. and we are leaving Kampala. The reason for this early start is that we were yesterday at the office of the Ugandan Wildlife Authority and got straight away the permits for the Gorilla trekking at the Bwindi Impenetrable National Park for the 1st of February. It was suggested to us that we should take the route via Mubende, Fort Portal, and Kasese, then through the Queen Elisabeth National Park to Buhoma village, which is just outside Bwindi National Park.
Approximately 20 km after Kasese the road bypasses the Confluence by 150 meters; a road leads to a nature conservation house and also directly to the Confluence. The Confluence is next to the house and is situated 3 meter inside the bush. On the main road the Equator line is marked with a sign.
