28-May-2009 -- I was on the first day of a four day GPSing weekend (geodashing and confluence hunting). 42N76W was the first of three confluences successfully reached on my trip. Like the previous visitors to this confluence, I parked at the service station just across the border in Pennsylvania. Rather than walk north on the highway (NY-26) as the others have, I climbed the hill from the parking lot at the service station to 76W and made my way north through the woods to 42N, not a trivial hike, but not difficult either. As I was climbing out of the parking lot, a lady appeared and shouted asking what I was doing. My response of taking some pictures seemed to satisfy her and she disappeared back into the service station. I reached the confluence a few minutes later and took the required photos. Photo #1 to the south shows the route from which I came. Photos #2 to the north and #3Photo #4 through the trees down the hill to the west shows the back of the reddish brown house that fronts on NY-26. My photo #5 showing all zeros on my GPSr was less than stellar but readable nonetheless. I chose the more conventional route back to my car down the hill between two houses and back south on the highway.
