03-Jul-2009 -- It's Friday, the same like European Sunday, just a day off. Let's go for confluence point hunting.
Now we have summer on the Arabian Peninsula, not a good time for long desert trips, but 50 km is OK. I'm leaving al-Riyāḍ in the morning and head to the northeast, direction al-Dammām. After approx. 35 km, loop onto the Rumāḥ highway and continue north for 6 km. Turn left just before the petrol station. The confluence point is 2.5 km up the gravel road, direction west, under the 220 kV power line, then direction WSW.
It's a very hot day with many blowing dust. Nearby were many settlements of rough housing and animal pens. Making my way around, I found the Confluence a few meters inside a pen. Black and brown sheep watching me, I made my way in and shoot quickly the required photos.
Before lunch, I was back in al-Riyāḍ. I'm happy, no flat tires and so on... At last, a cold shower washes off the remaining desert dust from the skin.
