18-Aug-2009 -- Chun Ling and I departed from Dalian early in the morning, very enthusiastic to participate in such expedition...
The preparation was done with the only available map I could find here, all in Chinese and not very accurate. I had to enlarge it, focusing onto the interesting part, thanks to scanner and printer. Using Google Earth, I could approximately plot some waypoints, despite the poor quality in this part of the Google bird eye.
We reached the vicinity of the confluence at around 10:30. It took a very short time to determine the position, apparently inside a pear orchard. Coming close to the farmer house, a woman came to us and Chun Ling explained the reason for our visit. She friendly welcomed us and asked us to feel free to go ahead. Her daughter Qiao and her daughter’s son joined the group.
Accessing to the confluence was then very quickly done as is located right in the middle of the orchard.
I made some explanations to all, how a GPS works, how we can find our position and explained better the confluence project purpose. I fulfilled my CP requirements by taking pictures.
Then Qiao explained that her parents are in charge of more than 10.000 trees including peach, pear, apple trees and hazel and chestnut trees. We were then invited to taste fruits and we made some shopping, bringing back home pears, peaches and hazel nuts.
