25-Aug-2009 -- This confluence point is one that I'd been looking forward to visiting for some time, as it lies next to a hiking trail through the beautiful "Lost Coast" area of northern California. However, I wanted to wait until the weather was suitable, because this area is often foggy or rainy. This day, however, the weather was perfect - an offshore flow kept the fog offshore, and there was clear sunshine and mild temperatures (in the low 70s Fahrenheit).
Starting from the Nadelos campground, I hiked up the Chemise Mountain Trail to the Lost Coast Trail, which passes within 60 feet of the confluence point, in a Tan Oak forest. Because of the tree cover, getting "all zeros" was difficult, but I eventually succeeded. From the Nadelos campground, the hike to the confluence point and back was about 5 miles.
