21-Sep-2009 -- A very nice confluence trip!
I started as planned very early in the morning, while it was pitch dark, and followed Ross F's route very carefully, leaving the main two-lane road about 5 km before the point, and including a km on a dirt road before the final hike through the morning forest.
At this time the sun had still not risen, but it was getting close to doing so, making it light enough for jogging through the old growth forest, and the temperature was perfect.
I found the point in about 5 minutes, spent 10 minutes getting all the images and marveled at the size of some of the pine acorns that the magnificent trees have dropped all over the area.
Another 5 min back to the car, then the one hour return trip to my motel in Sonora Oaks.
Just as I started the return trip the sun rose over the pine-covered hillsides, making the views even nicer.
