04-Jun-2010 -- I woke up in my tent in Châlons-sur-Champagne and was greeted by singing birds. Two Dutch couples prepared their bicycles with bags for a long ride. I dismantled my tent and drove by car to the town of Chouilly. Passed a deviation – it was market day – I reached the northern exit of the town and saw the Confluence hill in 2.3 kilometres distance. Later I learned the exact point is located in the forest in the centre of the photo.

After about one kilometre my navigation system guided me on gravel roads through the vineyard to the top of the hill. I passed some workers and they greeted friendly. When the gravel roads got worse I decided to park my car with 380 metres distance to the point nearly on top of the hill. The roads are not a big deal for Mr. Boyle's Landrover but I wanted to be friendly to my car and I enjoyed the nice walk on the edge of the forest.

80 metres off the point (49°00.04'N 003°59.97'E) I am still out of the forest and had a marvellous view towards the North West. I struggled through the dense woods until I reached the point. The Confluence dance took some time and due to the dense canopy it was hardly possible to zero out the receivers.

My way back led towards North East, which is the easier way out of the forest.

Before I continued my journey to 49°N-03°E I enjoyed the view over the vineyards, where the famous Champagne is produced.
