29-Jan-2000 - It was a beautiful sunny day and I
figured that it was as good a time as any to go visit the confluence
point nearest to me. I headed out with my laptop (for the maps it has)
and my GPS. I attempted to take what looked to be the shortest route,
but unfortunately it had quite a bit of snow on it. After managing to
get my pickup unstuck from snow with the help of a shovel, some pieces
of wood, and finally tire chains (it was a good thing I did not have
those on in the first place because I probably would have driven even
further into the snow and gotten really stuck), I went back and
encountered no further trouble on the better travelled roads.
I was able to drive to about .75 miles from the confluence point.
After a bit of a hike through patches of trees and mostly snow covered
fields, I made it to the confluence point on the side of a hill in the
middle of a field.
I have a few more pictures and a somewhat more detailed
description of the trip on my
webpage.
