28-Aug-2010 -- This was my first confluence point, after only discovering the concept last week. After finding out that 46N 11E was only a couple of kilometres from my village (Vigo Cavedine) I thought that it was my duty to document an 'easier way' to this point.

I had read from the first 3 prior visits that the haul up from Stravino was arduous. And from my previous wanderings above Stravino I can understand why this was the case! However, as I know the forest behind my home pretty well, I decided to take a very gentle route (although maybe a little longer) to 46N-11E on wide forest roads that take you to within 100m of the point. I have provided an overlay of the GPS track onto an old map as a guide. However, the mapping in this area is very poor (which is probably why this confluence point was never attempted from Vigo Cavedine; hence the track I took may not be visible on your map :( Trust me, it's there and it's huge :)

Brief Description: We (all the family, dog and a friend) started the walk from Vigo Cavedine, gaining virtually all of the 200m height needed in the first 20 mins. After this steep-ish accent (on a lovely cobbled track) you turn left onto a wide forestry road which leads you all the way to a fork in the road (after 3km) which you should bear right to arrive at Pra Lombard after 500m hidden on your left. From this little house, you'll have to take a straight line to the confluence point (only 150m away) and carefully descend a steep banking. You can come back the same way, but I always prefer to descent on a lower track to make it into a loop (see map).

Additional info: The wild mushroom soup we ate for dinner was delicious (collected from the forest en-route) :)
