Localizar a confluência geográfica S14W43 foi conseqüência do P.I.C.O. (programa de índio completo e organizado) que definimos para a última semana de férias.

Em 25 de junho saímos de Belo Horizonte em dois veículos 4x4 em direção a divisa norte de Minas com a Bahia, com o objetivo de visitar 4 confluências geográficas da latitude 14, todas localizadas na região de Caatinga, vegetação típica do nordeste brasileiro.

Na manha de 27/07, depois de uma longa jornada de 900 Km, que incluiu a travessia do velho Chico em uma balsa, e um merecido descanso na Pousada Gabrielly em Cocos-BA, eu e meus filhos, Breno e Daniel, acompanhados do amigo, Jose Jorge e seu filho Pedro, após a localização da confluência do S14W44 localizado no município de Carinhanha-BA, seguimos em direção ao nosso destino, confluência S14W43.

Antes de tudo, partimos para um rápido almoço no restaurante Tony Bar, na praça da igreja na sede do município. Terminada a comilança, agradecemos aos proprietários Dona Fatima e seu marido e retomamos nossa viajem.

Cruzamos uma magnifica ponte sobre o rio São Francisco e seguimos pelo asfalto novo da BR030. A bela paisagem descampada e os longos trechos de reta dessa rodovia nos impressionou.

Da ponte ate uma saída a esquerda foram 82 Km. Seguimos então por estradas secundarias e trilhas de carro de boi, poeirentas e arenosas cortando a caatinga por 34Km ate chegar em uma seca propriedade dedicada a criação de gado bovino. Alem das belas paisagens, nesse trecho, nos chamou atenção o sistemático cultivo de certo tipo de cactus utilizado para alimento de animais, no rigor da seca.

A confluência S14W43 esta num local cercado por caatinga rala e isso facilitou nossa tarefa de zerar o GPS. A topografia permitiu os 4x4 chegar muito próximo da confluência, o que foi devidamente celebrado pela turma.

Terminada essa missão, partimos para a busca da próxima confluência, S14W42. Para pernoitar em Catieté, percorremos outros 81Km.

To locate geographic confluence S14W43 was consequence of the P.I.C.O. (program of complete and organized indian) that we define for the last week of vacation. In 25 of June we leave Belo Horizonte in two vehicles 4x4 in direction the verge north of Mines with the Bahia, with the objective to visit 4 confluences geographic of latitude 14, all located in the region of Caatinga, typical vegetation northeast Brazilian.

In the morning of 27/07, after a long day of 900 km, that the passage of the old Chico in a raft included, and one deserved rest in the Gabrielly Inn in Coconut, I and my children, Breno and Daniel, followed of the friend, Jose Jorge and its son Peter, after the localization of the confluence of the S14W44 located in the city of Carinhanha-BA, follow in direction to our destination, confluence S14W43.

Before everything, we break for a fast lunch in the restaurant Tony Bar, in the square of the church in the headquarters of the city. Finished, we thank the proprietors Dona Fatima and its husband and retake ours travel. We cross a magnificent bridge on the river San Francisco and follow for the new asphalt of the BR030. The beautiful unsheltered landscape and the long stretches of straight line of this highway in impressed them.

Of the bridge an exit to left for 82 km. We follow then minor roads and tracks of ox's car, dusty and sandy cutting the scrubland for 34Km to arrive in a dry property dedicated to bovine cattle. Besides the beautiful sceneries, in this passage, the systematic cultivation of certain type attracted us attention of cactus used for food of animals, in the severity of the drought.

The confluence S14W43 this in a place enclosed by thinning scrubland and that made easy our task of reducing the GPS to zero. The topography allowed the 4x4 to arrive very much near of the confluence, which was celebrated properly by the group.

When this mission ended, we leave for the search of the near confluence, S14W42. To spend the night in Catieté, we go through others 81Km.
