02-Oct-2010 -- Continued from 33N 4W.
From Missour we took the N15 to Midelt, where we should have stayed for lunch. Instead we continued our trip to Bou Ari. A kilometre from Bou Ari we had a traffic incident with Moroccans - fortunately, no casualties and no damage to the cars. Excitement, we found a way to drive along the mountains and reached the point as close as possible. It was a stony road and four or five times we had to get out of the car to "repair" the road. We came as close as 3.45 km. The mountains were quite high and it would probably take around six hours to walk to the point and back. That would mean walking in the dark for at least one hour. We did not have any food and decided to skip this point.
I started the car to return to the N15. Suddenly after a few seconds two crazy dogs where running on both sides of the car. This was weird. These dogs must be from a farmer but I did not see them coming. It probably isn't save to walk on these hills unprotected. Beware of these dogs!
To cool off the excitement we drove to a mountain lake nearby. We saw a sign for tourists but saw no one. I did cool off in the lake. The water was not very cold but I had to watch out not to step in the glass from broken bottles.
During this day we continued to Ifrane and Meknès. In Meknès we saw the old city, which is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage
site. Around midnight we enjoyed some good old fashioned traditional
bellydancing. Hotel Malta is a good hotel to stay when you're in Meknes.
Next point 34N 5W.
