07-Jan-2011 -- Driving from Birregurra to Melbourne Airport, we made a small diversion to visit this rather easy-to-visit confluence point. From the Princes Highway heading towards Geelong, we turned left just past Winchelsea and drove north to Shelford via Inverleigh. At Shelford, we turned east towards Bannockburn, then after 2.5 km turned north on to the Meredith-Shelford Road, a minor sealed road. 2 km along this road, the GPS notified us that it was time to park the car and get out and walk.
The confluence point is located in a grassy paddock on the left (west) side of the road, at a distance of about 120 m from the verge where we parked. A tricky barbed wire fence was negotiated to get access to the paddock and after a quick stroll through the long grass we reached the confluence point.
After taking the various photographs for the record, we headed back to the car to escape the 35°C heat. Continuing our journey towards Melbourne, within a few kilometers of the confluence point we found Summer Sensations Café and Berry Gardens on the Shelford-Bannockburn Road, where we celebrated another successful confluence point visit with some excellent berries and ice cream, and fruit smoothies.
