03-May-2011 -- The easiest approach to this confluence point would be to stop on highway 101 which passed at a distance of only 1.2 km. As law abiding citizens we got off the highway and navigated to an industrial area almost straight east of the confluence point. From there it was 1.7 km to walk. To begin with it was easy going, but then came a couple of stretches with wet areas. The actual confluence point was in the middle of the last one, so I settled for a distance of 40 m. The wet areas required good balance and I very much appreciated the beaver cut walking stick I pulled out of one of the dams near N43E73 the day before. Beaver cut sticks are pointed at both ends and consequently give you a good grip. The weather was good, about 20 centigrades, the forest was greening, but there were no signs of animal life. The only sounds were the occasional bird and a permanent sound from highway 101. The car had to be returned to the rental company in Boston and I therefore rushed back to the vehicle and a patient wife.
