24-Фев-2012 – С 23 по 26 февраля 2012 года мы с друзьями (всего 11 человек) совершали лыжный поход по болоту Соколий Мох. Это болото – одно из самых больших в Ленинградской области. Длина его около 60 км, а ширина в самой широкой части около 17 км. Болото находится между долинами рек Сясь и Паша и простирается с севера на юг. На болоте много разного размера озёр, питающих эти две реки. Также много островков леса и просто отдельно стоящих чахлых деревьев.

Точка N60°E33° вполне логично вписывалась в маршрут, и поэтому мы решили её посетить. Мы стартовали 23 февраля со станции Юги (железная дорога Санкт-Петербург – Петрозаводск), а финишировали 26 февраля на станции Валя (железная дорога Санкт-Петербург – Вологда). Всего за поход, с подходами и отходами, мы прошли на лыжах примерно 80 км. Ночевали в шатре с печкой.

Погода во время путешествия была облачная, около 0°C. Никакой живности на болоте мы не видели, даже птиц, видели только заячьи следы. Вероятно, летом здесь поживее. А на подходах к болоту, в окружающих его лесах, полно птиц и зверей.

Во время Великой Отечественной войны через болото с запада на восток проходила сухопутная часть Дороги Жизни; этой дорогой пользуются до сих пор, и она в приличном состоянии (во всяком случае, зимой). На этой дороге мы встретили сотрудников подразделения по борьбе с браконьерами, которые ездили по болоту в поисках браконьеров и волков, у которых сейчас гон.

К точке N60°E33° мы подошли вечером 24 февраля, около 20 часов местного времени (московское, UTC+4), было уже темно. Местность – ну просто болото под слоем снега, придутого ветром, вокруг маленькие чахлые ёлочки. В километре к югу от точки расположен небольшой лесной массивчик, где мы и заночевали.

24-Feb-2012 – From 23 to 26, February, 2012, my friends (crew of 11) made ski trip through the swamp Sokoliy Mokh. This swamp is one of the largest in Leningrad region, Russia. Its length is about 60 km and the width at the widest part is about 17 km. The swamp is located between rivers Syas' and Pasha, and extends from the north to the south. There are many lakes of different sizes in the swamp, these lakes feed those two rivers. Also, there are many islands of the forest and simply detached stunted trees.

The confluent point 60°N 33°E logically blend with the route, so we decided to visit it. We started February 23 from the railway station Yugi (railroad St. Petersburg – Petrozavodsk) and finished on February 26 at the railway station Valya (railroad St. Petersburg – Vologda). Results for the campaign, with the approach and falling back, we were skiing about 80 km. We spent the nights in the marquee (big tent) with the portable stove.

During the trip the weather was cloudy, about 0°C. We have not seen any living creatures in the swamp, even birds, we have seen only hare tracks. Probably there will be more live in the summer here. But on the way to the swamp, there are many surrounding forests, full of birds and animals.

During World War II so called The Road of Life passed here through the swamp from the west to the east. This part of the road is in use so far, and it is in good condition (at least in winter). On this road we met a staff unit to combat poachers, who went through the swamp in search of poachers and wolves, which are in rut now.

We approached to the confluence in the evening of 24th February, about 8 pm local time (Moscow, UTC+4), it was already dark. Terrain is just swamp under snow, there are some small stunted firs around. There was a small woodland in one kilometer south of the confluence. We stayed the night there.
