01-Apr-2012 -- We had a marvellous time in Bilbao visiting the Guggenheim Museum and the old town. We visited Santander, a holiday resort a hundred kilometres to the west before heading south. All the way along the coast we were struck by the mist. We concluded that this was either pollution or perhaps the humid air
Our not too detailed car map indicated a c.p. on our way southwards. We had not consulted previous visitors' reports, so when we reached the lake/reservoir we realized that this was a lost case. We saw almost no people around and no boats or floating crafts of any kind. But we enjoyed the countryside and the clean air.
On a week’s trip from Madrid to Bilbao and the north we tried to fit in the convenient confluence points. I remembered I had read about this cp and that there was some talking about an inflatable raft, also that the visitor had considered swimming……
We had no raft, but the weather was fine and the countryside beautiful so we made a go at it. Arriving at the lake we realized that the water was too cold and we just could not make it. We walked along the beach, saw no boats and almost no people and had to give up.
