20-Sep-2012 -- We arrived in Iceland by MS Fram, a cruise ship of Hurtigruten, which is able to sail in arctic sea conditions. After Svalbard and Greenland this was our third and last island on our cruise where we experienced quite some surprises along our trip.

Although there had been several expeditions ashore and lots of time to relax and enjoy the life on board we longed for some extra exercise. Having some spare time in Reykjavik we decided on short notice to visit some confluences. Thanks to all the information available on the internet planning was easy.

This confluence needed some driving from the capital of Iceland through beautiful countryside, along the ring motorway No. 1 and some country roads of the golden circle route. We found a good place to park the car beside the road No. 26 and could enter the meadow through a gate locked by several ropes. Fortunately the famous Iceland ponies grazed far in the distance so we didn’t disturb them during our easy approach of the confluence. Reception was very good, reading was stable for minutes, and we took our pictures and enjoyed the view for a while. Looking at Vatnafjöll area and the famous volcano Hekla it is hard to imagine the vast natural power which created this beautiful island.
