01-Sep-2013 -- On my way back home from Paris to Montpellier on Sunday Sept 3rd, I visited 2 CP that lie a few kilometers west of the highway in one the French outback of the region Auvergne. Both N46 E3 and N45 E3 haven’t been visited since 2005.
This point is in a field used as pasture for livestock. I parked my car in the small village named Charbonnière les vieilles and walked east on a country road for 400 meters. The gate of the field was opened and there was no sign of private property. I zeroed the point easily but the coordinate changed just at the time of the shooting.
Soon after, I met the landowner who arrived to work in his vegetable garden 20 meters west of the point. He seemed very interested to learn that a CP could be found in his field but couldn’t understand why it was necessary to visit them. One of his question was : what is actually on the point ? I answered : nothing. He just couldn’t get that I was so far from home to see “nothing”.
Not much to see in the area with only a few minutes to spend on a side trip. En route to the point I passed a nice castle with a brand new roofing and a field where I had the chance to see a donkey of a specific French breed called “Âne du Poitou”.
