27-May-2000 -- This is the first Saturday of
Becky's summer vacation so I thought something different was in order
for her.
I had stumbled onto this web-site a few weeks ago and had mentioned
it to Becky. She thought it was a "fun" thing to try so I
borrowed a GPS receiver and off we went.
We live between Dallas and Ft Worth so the trip down to Hillsboro and
out to Bynum took a little over an hour.
We were able to easily drive along county roads until we were about a
half a minute (of arc) away from the confluence.
We were surrounded by corn fields. However the line of travel was
over a fallow field, no fence. So we took off hiking.
We walked until we were within a tenth of a minute away but we ran
into a fence line and the other side had some rather rough terrain.
We took a picture of the area ahead of us and headed back to the car.
We then back-tracked a bit and headed up a dusty lane. In the general
direction of travel was a farm house so we headed for it.
We asked and received permission to cross some fences and off we went
again - this time through a horse pasture.
Several horses were grazing and started our way. Becky is not much
of a horse person and rather quickly jumped over the nearest fence, which ran
parrallel to our intended line of travel.
The horses were not really interested in us and went back to grazing.
We continued on our way. The location was below a gentle rise and above
a tree lined creek bed.
The field was full of wildflowers and one picture is provided. In
general, this is good looking Texas ranch land.
