30-Sep-2014 -- After visiting my sister in Lexington, KY with my wife for several days, we said our goodbyes and drove north. I dropped my wife off at the Cincinnati airport (in Covington, KY) to return home to Fort Collins, CO where she had to work, sadly. I then continued on north to my hometown of Medina, OH to spend a few days with my parents and visiting old friends…

…but not before attempting to bag another confluence in the good old state of Ohio! I investigated 39N/84W (and even 39N/85W in Indiana) but ultimately settled on this one, right off a state route, for time's sake. Plus missing Columbus construction and rush hour traffic on I-71 is always a bonus.

It was cool and surprisingly overcast as I parked in a small gravel pull-off on the east side of Route 235 and just south of the 40th parallel by about 50 feet. I walked along the shoulder until hitting 40N and then walked due east for about 30 feet until running into the fence mentioned by previous confluence hunters. It wasn't as hop-able as others made it out to be in past visits - about four feet tall and a dense wire mesh - perhaps it was recently restrung? Holding the GPS over the fence I got to within 10 feet of the site, and factoring this in with WAAS corrections I estimate my visit was accurate to within 25 feet.

I returned to the car and continued north on mostly back roads to arrive home three hours later. The trees are just beginning to change - so beautiful, and one of the principal reasons I missed Ohio fall so much - this is my first long fall visit back home since my senior year of high school in 2005!
