03-Aug-2015 --
This is the second in a sequence of 3 visits made while on holiday in Sweden, in Hjelleskata, south
of Säffle, near Vänern lake.
The previous is N60 E14.
The next is N59 E13.
I had just completed N60 E14 and headed off to the next CP. Again following my sat-nav, the
route took me North through Hagfors, via Ekshärad and Torsby, then south again to the CP. The
last few kilometres were again on a dirt track, arriving at 2:05.
I parked the car at the closest point to the CP - I was able to park the car on the track as this
time there was plenty of room for other cars to pass. The distance to the CP was 319 metres. I gathered
all the necessary equipment and headed off. It was immediately obvious that there was a serious
liquid barrier to cross (see the picture) but by walking down stream about 50 metres there was an
easy place to cross (see picture). So I headed towards the CP. Terrain was a bit more difficult than
N60 E14, and slightly uphill, but it was at least dry.
Having arrived at the CP I took the usual photos and headed back in the general direction of the
car. At some point it got marshy and I had to be selective of the route I was taking back -
eventually it got so bad I retraced the track I had recorded on the way to the CP which was dry. At
one point I came to a section of forest where it was clear that some large vehicle had made tyre
tracks and these were filled with water.
I arrived back at the car at 2:40, having covered 1.3 km, happy to have bagged my second CP of the
day. That just left the return journey back to Hjelleskata. I stopped on the way for lunch by a
beautiful lake, arriving back around 6. The total distance covered was 420 km.
