27-Jul-2015 -- This was the start of a summer trip with several successful confluences.

We had to travel a long way north simply to visit a confluence I had not visited before and along the way we made a stop at Project Faultless the day before which complemented our visit to the Trinity Site during our visit to 34N 108W earlier in the year.

Heading west from Dorris on Picard Road we turned north on Matthews Road then west off the pavement and onto the dirt Big Stump Road eventually making our way to Lake Ridge Road and Skyway Road although none of these intersections were marked. All of the roads here were very rutted and in places high clearance and 4WD was required. Our approach was more from the east compared to Ross Finlayson but the roads were just as rutted and bad here. We exited the same way we came in.

We stopped along Skyway Road abeam the point and I hiked about 400 feet in elevation down a gently sloping tree covered ridge and found the confluence just beyond (west of) a generally clear area and in a large cluster of trees. About 2 meters to the west of a tight cluster of 4 trees with a fifth tree in front of them is where I located all zeroes on my GPS.

The views were very good with noticeable haze from the forest fires that were close by. To the southwest was the snow capped Mt Shasta only 42 miles away.

Post processing of the GPS data reveals that my GPS receiver was 2.4 meters southeast of the actual confluence with a Horizontal Precision of 2.4 meters.

Total time off Picard Road was 1:56 with 14.2 km driving. Included in that time is my roundtrip hike of 0:56 with about 20 minutes at the confluence. The roundtrip hike was 1.4 km.
