13-Nov-2015 -- We hiked 1500 km on foot starting in Zurich, Switzerland to reach this confluence point. The start of this hike was back in April 2013, when we began our journey to Rome and Naples. The specialty of this trip was that the hiking was not done in one go, but in stages. On average once every month, we hiked for the weekend and travelled back home to Zurich by train. Then, we took a train to the place we had stopped last time and resumed our hike from the same train station. A summary of the trip can be found here.

We reached this confluence point on the second last day of our one-week leg from Rome to Naples. The confluence was located 2 km from our route along the coast. In November, the coastal housing areas turn into ghost towns without any people or cars. We found all the towns from Baia Domizia, Baia Felice, Pineta Riviera, Castel Volturno, Pineta Grande, Villaggio Coppola (near CP), Lago Patria, Lido di Licola up to Licola Mare deserted. Some parts seem to be completely abandoned.

To reach the confluence, we left SP303 and went inland on Strada Statale 7, which leads directly to the motorway SS7. The confluence is located just 500 m from the entrance to the motorway. The exact location is 60 m south of the road and 30 m into a freshly ploughed field. At the confluence, we noticed gun shots. First, we thought that hunters were at work. But then it became clear that there must be a shooting range nearby. In a previous visit the Passaros had noticed these gun shots already back in 2008.

After the visit, we continued our hike and spent the night in the Hotel la Perla ca. 4 km south of the confluence point. The next morning, we finished our 8-day leg by reaching Naples. After spending one day there, we flew back to Zurich.
