22-Jan-2016 -- An easy point in the outskirts of the capital city
We were spending a couple weeks in Jordan and Lebanon, and this is one of the two points we visited in Jordan.
From where we were staying, this confluence point was at about 11 km GPS distance. We knew from the map, this point was located very near a major highway – al-Šahīd.
We drove toward west on this highway and reached a location 85 meters from the point, and could tell that the exact point was located on the other side of this busy highway.
We drove further to a major highway exchange and were able to get on the right side heading east. We stopped by a gas station with 25 meters to go and found the all zero point located on a heap of trash right against the wall of a very large building – a wedding hall.
This is the first point for our guide, Māzin. Florence also liked this kind of hunt which is easy or uncomplicated. Afterward, we went to the Jordan National Museum which is one of the few interesting places to visit in `Ammān.
Rating of this hunt:
Degree of Challenge: 1 – An easy drive up to with few meters (1= very easy - drive to the point; to 5= a death march – glad it is over)
Scenery: 2 – Except it is unusual it is located in a very large capital city, the surrounding building and highway is not at all interesting (Scale: 1= not interesting at all; 5= take your breath away)
Culture-social factors: 1 – Urban `Ammān without any character reflecting the Jordanian culture (Scale: 1=dull; 5= most stimulating)
