27-Jul-2016 -- Driving north-eastward from Riga, I attempted this Degree Confluence Point after visiting the nearby Gauja National Park (near the town of Sigulda) - including the famed Gutmanis Cave. The Degree Confluence Point is just a few km away.

To avoid bothering the residents of the the farmhouses northwest of the point, I parked on the country road at 57.00731°N 25.00279°E, 830 m north of the point, and hiked from there through a fallow field, towards the patch of forest where I knew the point lay. Unfortunately, before reaching the point, I was blocked by a deep-looking creek. Unfortunately I wasn’t dressed appropriately to try to wade across the creek, so I had to abandon this as an incomplete attempt. I wasn’t able to get closer than 120 m (± GPS error of 4 m). A previous visitor mentioned beaver activity, so I was hoping to find a beaver dam that I might use to cross the creek, but I didn’t see any.

Looking again at previous visitors’ reports, I see that the only successful visit to this point - back in 2003 - was in the winter, when (I presume) the creek was frozen over. Those of you who are willing to brave a Latvian winter may wish to try visiting this point.
