11-Jun-2017 -- Driving north from Mackay, I first thought about visiting 20S 148E - which I had registered as an ‘incomplete’ visit in April 2000 - but decided that I didn’t want to do a 1.7+ km each way hike through long grass. Instead, I turned inland at the town of Ayr to visit this much easier point, which is just 100 m from a gravel road.

Being only 100 m from a road, this point was easy to reach. There was a barbed-wire fence alongside the road, but there was enough space to crawl underneath it. Like so many of Australia’s Degree Confluence Points, this point lies in grassland, among thinly-spaced gum (i.e. eucalyptus) trees. There is a cluster of small rocks at the point, but these appear to be natural, rather than a rock cairn.

After visiting this point, I continued driving north to visit the nearby historic mining town of Ravenswood, and then to Charters Towers.
