10-Mar-2018 -- Two years ago, I drove from Sydney, New South Wales to Gold Coast, Queensland - taking an inland route that allowed me to visit several new (for me) Degree Confluence Points. This week, I’m doing the same thing, but taking a somewhat different route - in the hope of visiting still more Degree Confluence Points.
I attempted to visit this point - unvisited since 2001 - after crossing the scenic Blue Mountains. My goal was to begin by driving to 32.99643°S 149.99138°E, where (according to satellite imagery) a dirt road intersects a trail - roughly 800 m northwest of the point - that appears to run southwards along a ridge.
Unfortunately, when I got to Brogan’s Creek, about 3.25 km from the point, I was blocked by private farmland. This was too far for me to hike, because I had also planned to try to visit the neighboring point 33S 149E later that same afternoon. So I chose to give up and mark this as an incomplete visit. (Later, after taking a closer look at satellite imagery, I realized that it might be possible to drive closer to the point by taking some dirt roads that start north of Brogan’s Creek. So I may well try again to visit this point during some future trip.)
