11-May-2019 -- From Scottsbluff, Nebraska I drove 30 minutes each way to visit this easy point, which lies in a field (currently unfarmed), about 0.1 miles South of a dirt road. Much closer, however, is a set of railroad tracks running on top of an embankment - just to the southwest. As I walked towards the point, a long train passed by. Each car on the train seemed to be filled with coal. I suspect that the coal was coming from coal mines in neighboring Wyoming. (So much for the fight against global warming...)

There were several prairie dog burrows in the field, and in fact the Degree Confluence Point lies on top of (or very close to) a large burrow. (I’m not sure how long these burrows last; could this be the same one that Shawn Fleming photographed almost 13 years ago?) While at the point, I heard several prairie dogs in the distance letting out warning cries, but unfortunately I wasn’t able to photograph any of them.
