12-May-2019 -- As I drove eastward from [42,-103] and the town of Alliance, Nebraska, I had expected the rolling grass-covered sand hills. What surprised me, however, was the numerous large ponds/small lakes dotted among those sand hills. Perhaps I shouldn’t have been surprised by this, though, because I knew in advance that this Degree Confluence point lay next to one of these small lakes. I was looking forward to visiting this point - especially as it had not been visited in more than 14 years.
Alas, however - as I crested the hill on Abbott Road that overlooks the point (to the South), I saw that ranchers were working on the farm, on the near side of the lake. When visiting these points, I don’t like to disturb private land owners - especially those busy doing real work. So I photographed the point from 0.82 miles away, turned around, and recorded this as an incomplete visit.
