28-Jun-1999 --While visiting my family in Greenland,
NH, I decided to make a special trip north to attempt the final
confluence not yet visited in my home state. Using my Garmin
GPS III to home in on my destination, I followed a very long and
narrow dirt road into sparsely populated woodlands. As it
turned out, I branched off of route 25A, but should have
been on route 25C. But the diversion was worth it because
I discovered a small pond right next to the road with more
dragonflys than I've ever seen before in my life. Right
out in the middle of the pond was a beaver lodge, and then
I spotted the beaver swimming directly toward me. About
a third of the distance to me, the beaver dove beneath the
surface and did not appear on my side of the pond, as I'd
hoped, so I pressed on toward the confluence. Eventually,
the narrow track of a road widened and intersected with a
paved road, not far from route 25C. Within minutes I
watched the distance to the confluence drop to within 200
feet as I drove in a northeasterly direction on 25C. There
was a good spot to park on a side road only 1/10 of a mile
away, and I set out on foot for the final conquest, taking
pictures of the most interesting items I could find, along
the way. There was a historical school which appeared to
be a residence in use, a mailbox inside what appeared to
be a large-mouth bass, and a moose crossing sign.
