11-Feb-2023 -- I first documented this confluence in August of 2003. At the time, it was the first confluence visit in Honduras.
Now, twenty years later I returned to see if anything had changed.
I visited Honduras by motorcycle, so getting to the location was a lot easier than last time, when it took me two days by local bus to reach this spot. Today, I simply rode there.
Things look mostly how I remember them. The same pipeline, the same steep road, the same narrow path leading near the confluence.
As before, I ran into someone working nearby. So as not to disturb them, I did not go directly to the confluence, but stopped about 30 meters short.
The main difference is that last time there were coffee plants here, and it had been cleared. Today it is more overgrown.
Also as you can see by the photo, I'm a little bit older.
