29-Mar-2023 -- After visiting [-36,144], I continued North, crossing the Murray River to enter New South Wales at the town of Barham. I continued driving North, through the small town of Moulamein, where the roads turned to dirt. One of these roads passed just 800m West of the point. I parked there (at [-35.00143,143.99148]), and hiked the rest of the way, through thinly-spaced vegetation.
As I approached the point, I saw a large herd of kangaroos in the distance, moving southwards. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to photograph them (nor did I manage to spot them later with my drone).
Just before I reached the point, I entered a grove of trees. The point lies next to one of these trees (part of which has fallen down). This was the first recorded visit to this point in more than 21 years! The point seems a little more vegetated than it was during the Thompsons’ visit in November 2001.
Here is a remote-controlled aerial video of this confluence point.
