08-Jul-2024 -- Driving through rural southern Oregon, from Klamath Falls to Bend, I made a detour to revisit this Degree Confluence Point (previously visited 12 years ago) - to get a ‘drone’s eye’ view of the point. As before, from the tiny town of Silver Lake, I drove South on a paved road towards Hager Mountain - a volcanic peak that dominates this area. I then took a series of dirt/gravel forest roads, ending up just 0.17 miles North of the point. This part of the U.S. is currently undergoing a heat wave; even at elevation, the temperature was close to 100 F (38 C), so I was pleased that the hike to the point was very easy. The point looks much the same as before; it lies in a small stand of pine trees, in what is otherwise a rather thinly-vegetated forest.
