14-Oct-2000 -- Having the GPS set correctly would have taken about 1/2 off the time/hike in getting to this location. I traversed about 5 hills/valleys to get to this point, mostly through scrub trees as seen in the pictures, occassionally exiting out through pasture, and a pipeline right-of-way. Took me about 2 1/2 hours once parked to find the location, and 40 minutes to get back to my motorcycle. The terrain, besides hilly, is just above outcroppings of rock along my path. No good for farming, but some areas have grass for grazing. Along my hike, I startled a covey of quail, as they did me, and about 7 deer.

I used Street Atlas 7.0, MicroSoft Streets & Trips 2000, & Mapquest, all showing a route from the South near the confluence. It either did not exist, or was hidden by the large ranch built across the route in Northern Oklahoma. I went in West of Caney, KS, North of the confluence. The gentleman whose property I parked on showed me his neighbor's house that was about 150 yards from my final destination, mostly across pasture. Next time....

The rock I placed my GPS unit on kept moving around, so I waited until it settled down until I could get a picture of the GPS unit with all the necessary zeroes.

The pictures of the creek were taken only about 40 yards SouthEast of the confluence. It exhibits the rocky nature of the land. The creek is very visable in the aerial view on the website.
