31-Jan-2001 -- We were on winter holidays in Germany at the parents of my wife
Nicole, so we decided to visit the nearest confluence.
This is our third point and the first in Germany (the first two were
N42 E3 and
N42 E2 in Catalonia, Spain). Ewald,
Nicole's father, had heard about our past visits and offered to drive us to the point.
We were lucky because the day wasn't so bad; the winter weather in Germany has
nothing to do with Barcelona. There was neither rain nor snow.
The point was 25m from the road and was very easy to find and easy to get to because
the field lying fallow for the winter. Everybody laughed about my voice: "Good! Zero,
zero, zero!"
After taking the pictures we went to a nearby farm and we found a stone with the mark of
the point N52 E8.
The inscription is in German and here is a translation:
"Stone placed in the parallel 52 and 75.40m west from the 8th meridian. 1981."
We had a good day and we decided that on our next summer holiday we will visit another
German confluence.
