I was in Lafayette, LA for meetings but had today free. It would
probably be my one and only chance to look for confluences. The geology,
geography and botany are quite different than what I’m used to on the Colorado
Plateau and in the Great Basin in the Western United States. N31 W92 is near
Cottonport, LA. I drove to within a few meters, then walked out into a field
filled with cows. They avoided me, but must have been disturbed at my presence.
They mooed loudly.
The sun had just come up. There was some low fog. The elevation was
something less than 50 meters.
