(visited by Jeremy T Splinter, Mindy Splinter and Joel Splinter)

14-Apr-2001 -- While I was visiting my older brother, Joel Splinter, and his wife Mindy, we went to get my second confluence, and their first.

The confluence is just inside Wyoming, and that little bit is the only time we spent in Wyoming all day. Thanks very much to R.O. and Mary McHale Wood Despain who had attempted this one before - we knew which routes wouldn’t work.

We came up on Hwy 133 and turned off at the Duke Energy Yellow Gas Plant right before the Wyoming border. This road goes by the legal corner of Wyoming and Utah. There is a monument there that you can see pictures of on the Despain’s page. The state boundaries were supposed to meet at this confluence that we went to but they were a little off.

The road was good so we didn’t even get to put it in 4-wheel drive. We could have tried to wander around some jeep trails to get to the point but we were less than three quarters of a mile away from the point from this road, so we hopped out and hiked up the hill. The climb was bogged down in Utah red mud, but we were soon near the top. The confluence point was near the peak so from it we could see the Gas plant, the road we came in on and the whole works. It was very windy up at the top and still had snow. We didn’t stay at the point very long because it was so chilly.
