10-Jul-2001 -- Having visited 38S 144E, 38S 143E, and 37S 143E all the previous day, I set off from Stawell with high hopes of reaching 37S 142E easily. However, it wasn't quite that easy.
I spent a fair bit of time driving around several kilometres from
the confluence, trying to find a way to get closer. From the
south the closest I could get was about 2kms by driving a long way
along a road reserve between some paddocks.
I eventually went back to northwest of the confluence and found a
dirt road (Cameron's Rd) heading east. It then zigzagged closer
and closer to the confluence. Eventually it met the sealed Holmes
Rd. Turning south onto Holmes Rd, 1.7kms later it became unsealed
(with Cameron's Rd continuing east as a sealed road towards Mt.
Talbot. Holmes Rd continued south for another kilometre. I parked
here, as I was only 580m due east of the confluence.
The confluence is located in the middle of a large stand of trees at
the southern end of a field.
On leaving the confluence I headed back north along Holmes Rd.
1km past where I joined it at Cameron's Rd it met up with Miss
Williamson's Rd coming east from the Toolondo-Wonwondah road (3.7kms
north of the confluence). This is a much simpler way of reaching
the confluence.
Now north to 36S 142E...
