14-Aug-2001 -- My son Curtis and I were driving cross-country. This confluence was on our way. The spot is in a very rural area. There are miles and miles of corn fields. Nearby US Highway 34 is in an historic area and is crossed several times by the Mormon Pioneer Trail.
The spot is on private ground. I approached the landowner's home (see photo #1) and spoke with the lady of the house. Two or three small children were with her. I tried to explain what we were doing and that a GPS helps you find places on the earth. Her small son said, "Does it help you find gold?"
We received permission to go on the land. It was only a few steps from the owners' driveway. The land was in use as a cattle pasture and was surrounded by an electric fence. We snapped the photos, waved and left.
It was Curtis' first confluence!
