15-Sep-2001 -- This was to be the last day of my cross-country trip from Buffalo, NY to Utah. I wanted to visit this confluence early and then concentrate on putting miles on the odometer.
After leaving the Interstate Highway I found myself on county roads. I was thankful that the roads had been laid out on a grid system. The road names and directions were predictable.
I was still in corn country. I drove past many fields of mature, ready-to-harvest corn. I was hopeful that I wouldn't have to enter one to find the spot. My luck held. I found the DCP in an open, grassy area. I walked about one-quarter mile after parking the car.
It was a cloudy day. There had been rain that morning. The sunflowers were still in bloom. The birds were singing. It was a great day.
