06-Oct-2001 -- I approached the confluence from McDermitt, Nevada. The approach was nearly uneventful except for another flat tire on the four wheeler and the various animals.

Total four wheeler miles logged was 78. I took an alternate route back to the truck which shaved about 17 miles off the return trip. (I missed this turn on the way in!)

This confluence is located very close to the Idaho/Oregon/Nevada border. I have posted pictures of this location as well.

I built a rock cairn at the confluence and have enclosed pictures of it and the view of various directions from the confluence.

This confluence can be driven to via an SUV or four wheel drive vehicle. Just follow the fence if you're approaching as I did. There was a motorhome about 18 miles from the confluence (deer hunters) and I am guessing that they came from the south.

I do NOT recommend an SUV or other vehicle to approach this site if it is raining or has recently rained. The dirt on the road in some places is 8 to 12 inches deep and can best be described as brown confectionary suger. Once it is wet, an SUV would probably play heck trying to get through some of the spots.

A couple of creek crossings on the way in and out, but may present a problem with the spring runoff. I was at the confluence at dusk. If you go, I'd highly recommend a night trip and a telescope if you're into that kind of thing. The stars were super bright!
